Armed and dangerous: Supreme Court knocks down strict gun law

Rest assured fellow Texans, y'all are still free to lock and load. The highest court in the land ruled today that American's have the right to own guns for the protection of their homes.

The court, in a 5-4 decision, struck down the District of Columbia's 32-year ban on handguns, citing that it was "incompatible with the 2nd Amendment." The law was widely viewed as one of the nation's strictest gun control statutes. Ironically, despite the rigorous gun control laws, D.C. recently ranked as the 5th most dangerous city in America, according to a recent survey done for 2007 by CQ Press.

Now, if we could only get the court to solve this whole gas price mess, we'd be all set.

The SCOTUS needed this decision to redeem itself after that mindless gaffe they committed yesterday, prohibiting courts from sentencing perverts who force themselves sexually on children under 8 years of age (Read: rape) to die.

Taking guns from law-abiding citizens means that only the criminals will have guns!

(My consolation on the other decision is that other inmates will mete out their own brand of justice to those who harm children--and then there's always the hand of the Almighty...)
